Garden Variety Art

A different kind of art this time... your garden variety art :) - very process and time based!  Just some views of my cottage, which is right outside my back door.  No traffic, just the burbling of the watergarden and the chatter of birds.

Two snippets from Jack Darling park today:  a mellow Abby, turning back and smiling, and for more bounce-to-the-ounce, a Frisbee catch by Milo, joined by Bronte for a victory lap.

Sunday 26 August 2012

Here is some footage of Milo catching frisbee... and then going for a long drink.

More recent art - from this past year

Blur, aquatint etching, 2012

Blur, top, middle, and bottom portions

If I Knew Then (State 1), 2012, Aquatint etching, approx. 40 x 30
What I Know Know (State 2), 2012, Aquatint etching, approx. 40 x 30.  Made by reworking the state 1 "If I knew then"

Middle Years/Medium Rare, 2012, watercolour wash and graphite, approx. 24 x 40"

Through a Thin Frost (outer layer), 2011, aquatint etching on sheer drapery fabric, laid over the rag paper version (below).  This top layer lays over top of the paper layer like a drape and is meant to be lifted; the idea is for a double image, of lifting a veil and seeing another side of the image.

Through a Thin Frost (bottom layer), 2011.  The title comes from Robert Frost's poem "An Old Man's Winter Night"

Two for One, 2012, watercolour wash and graphite with white china pencil resist, approx. 24 x 42".

Unspoken Warning / Is a memory of a memory just a memory? 2012, watercolour wash and mixed media.  I remember this photo, and thinking my mom looked like she's trying to warn me about something - but what?  Having no memory of the event, I have only the memory of the photo and the memory of what it meant years later...
